We Were Astronauts with If We Go At All
Local 92.9 Presents: We Were Astronauts EP Release Party
We Were Astronauts is a four piece indie/alternative rock band hailing from Boston and hitting the pavement with tasteful guitar licks, strong rhythms, and memorable vocal melodies. Inspired by and named for every kid whose dream of becoming an astronaut was crushed the day NASA’s shuttle program was closed, the band presents a melodic rock sound that is as timeless as the American dream. Influenced by solid rock acts, including Kings of Leon, NEEDTOBREATHE and the Airborne Toxic Event, We Were Astronauts is known for their catchy hooks, killer leads, and riveting energy.
Together since the summer of 2011, We Were Astronauts is comprised of Antonio Casasanta (lead vocals, guitar), Tim Corrigan (guitar, vocals), Chris Rando (bass, vocals) and Steve Paddock (drums). The group released their first full-length album Outside Boston in January 2013, which was recorded, mixed and mastered at Welcome to 1979 studio in Nashville, TN. Since the release, We Were Astronauts has garnered a strong fan base throughout the greater Boston area. In addition, the band has played at renowned NYC venues, including Arlene’s Grocery and The Bitter End, and just recently made their way to TX for SXSW 2014.
Through the help of fans and Kickstarter, We Were Astronauts traveled to LA in March to record their sophomore EP, Artificial Light. Produced by music veteran Warren Huart, whose roster includes Aerosmith, The Fray and Augustana, and engineered by Phil Allen, Grammy winner for Adele’s 21, Artificial Light is set for a September 2014 release.
